Our summer holiday in July 1976 – the long hot summer of 1976 – was back to Bewdley again.

As well as the Severn Valley Railway again, we also visited the West Midlands Safari Park and Ironbridge Gorge Museums (Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge itself and Blists Hill).

I have a very clear memory of sitting in the back of the car as we went round the safari park – in the boot (it was a Mini Traveller, not a saloon!) as there wasn’t enough room in the car as we had more than the 4 of us in it – absolutely sweltering in the heat.
