In a change from the usual trips to my dad’s parents in Yorkshire – although we did one of those too, there just aren’t really any photos from it – we went and stayed in a cottage (actually a converted railway carriage) on the banks of the River Severn just outside Bewdley in Worcestershire. The cottage belonged to my mother’s father’s partner at the time, Elaine.

The cottage was a short walk from Northwood Halt on the Severn Valley Railway, so of course we had a trip on the steam railway, and we also went to the West Midlands Safari Park.
