A lot of the pictures in this section were taken in the build up to the start of the race, including one of the drivers running to and climbing into the cars. And all this with the crowd separated from the track by just an earth bank – and that’s after the horrific crash there in 1955.
I used to sail with Ninian Sanderson winner in 1956. in 1970’s and 80’s and my dad before me in 1950’s and 60’s.
Ninian would have been 100 in May 2025 so I am painting pictures of his 1956 and 1957 wins. My dad was at the 1963 Le Mans with him, his last Le Mans.
